May 13th 2010 - K9- Officer Ferro - On the night of February 6, 2010, K-9 Officer Ferro and Officer Anglin responded to 809 Fleming Street, regarding a burglary in progress. upon arrival, Officers heard a loud crash and believed the suspect entered the residence. K-9 Ferro, Officer Anglin and Sergeant Blasberg ran to the rear of the property and confronted by the suspect. Officer Anglin and Sergeant Blasberg gave the subject loud repetitive verbal commands to stop and get on the ground.
The subject was noncomplient and began approaching the officers on the scene, disregarding their commands. Fearing for officer safety and receiving active resistance from the suspect, K-9 Ferro was given the bite command. Without hesitation, K-9 Ferro was able to subdue the subject without injury to the officers on scene. This incident is just one example of the Gallantry shown by K-9 Ferro. K-9 Ferro has a distinguished service record that includes felony apprehensions, and multiple narcotics arrests.
